Kervensaray Public Beach — Karaoğlanoğlu, Kyrenia

Kervensaray Public Beach (Kervansaray Halk Plajı in Turkish) is one of the better-organised public beaches along the Kyrenia coast. It sits in the Karaoğlanoğlu district, a short drive west of central Kyrenia, and was upgraded in recent renovation work that introduced a proper sun-lounger area, showers and full lifeguard cover.

The beach is roughly 10 minutes from central Kyrenia by car, on the coast road heading west toward Lapta. Free parking is available next to the beach itself, and the regional dolmuş (minibus) network runs along the coast road in both directions at frequent intervals — useful for visitors without a car. The Merit Park Hotel sits along the same stretch.

Kervensaray is one of the few sandy public beaches in the Karaoğlanoğlu stretch, where most of the coast is rocky. A breakwater out from shore keeps the water calm, and the entry from the sand into the water is gentle and shallow, which makes it a sensible pick for families. The water itself is clear with a sandy bottom; a small pier extends out into the sea for swimmers who prefer to dive in.

The site is properly equipped for a day visit. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available, with a sunbathing area on artificial turf for visitors who'd rather not have sand. Dressing rooms and showers are on site. A lifeguard tower with first-aid is staffed during opening hours.

The beach is open daily from 09:00 to 19:00, operated by Kyrenia Municipality. Like most public beaches in the area, peak crowds land on summer weekends; weekday mornings are noticeably quieter.

Kervensaray is a strong default for visitors who want a clean, well-managed public beach without the cost of a private beach-club day pass. The presence of a sandy entry, calm water and a lifeguard makes it particularly suitable for families with younger children. It's also a sensible pick for students staying along the Kyrenia coast — easy public access, predictable opening hours, no booking needed.
