Acapulco Resort grounds and beachfront, Kyrenia

Acapulco is one of the largest individual resorts in North Cyprus — an 820-room property in Çatalköy, east of central Kyrenia, combining a kilometre of private sandy beach with the biggest aquapark in the region, a congress centre, a casino floor and an award-winning spa. The scale and the convention capacity set it apart from most rivals on the coast, which are positioned for leisure first.

Location & access

The resort sits in Çatalköy, around 8 kilometres (about 15 minutes) from central Kyrenia, and roughly 28 kilometres (30 minutes) from Ercan Airport via the central crossing. The property has its own access road off the main coastal route, with grounds running down to the seafront.

Rooms and bungalows

Acapulco's 820 guest rooms are split across the main hotel buildings and a separate set of bungalow accommodation in the grounds — useful for families or groups who want a self-contained option rather than a corridor room. Interconnecting rooms make multi-room family bookings straightforward. All rooms include air-conditioning, minibar and private bathroom; higher categories add sea-facing balconies and upgraded living space.

Private beach

The seafront runs for roughly one kilometre along the resort's grounds — a long, sandy private beach with loungers and umbrellas, gentle entry into the water, and direct access from the hotel and bungalow zones. Beach details, water sports and aquapark hours are covered more fully on the dedicated Acapulco Beach page.

The aquapark and pools

The aquapark is the biggest in Kyrenia by slide count — 24 slides in total, of which 19 are designed for older guests and 5 for younger children. Five slide pools sit at the base, along with two outdoor swimming pools, an adults-only infinity pool (17+), a heated indoor pool and dedicated outdoor and indoor children's pools. The depth of swimming and slide options is unmatched on the Kyrenia coast.

Dining

Acapulco runs a buffet-style main restaurant for breakfast included with the stay, plus two on-site restaurants and three separate bar areas across the property. Twenty-four-hour room service handles late-night and out-of-hours dining — useful for guests arriving on late flights or working unusual hours.

Convention centre and business

A modern congress centre operates on-property and pulls Acapulco into a different category than most of its rivals. The combination of large room capacity, multiple dining venues and dedicated event space makes the resort one of the few options in North Cyprus for sizeable conferences, weddings and corporate gatherings — without compromising the leisure side for non-event guests.

Spa, wellness and casino

The on-site health and wellness centre includes a Turkish bath, massage treatments, a steam room and Jacuzzi facilities, with a full fitness centre operating alongside. The on-site casino is separated from the residential and family zones, in the standard North Cyprus casino-hotel arrangement.

Who it suits

Acapulco works best for visitors who want a destination-resort holiday with everything inside one property — families benefit from the aquapark and the long beach, couples can use the adults-only pool and spa, business and event travellers get the congress centre. The sheer scale of the property is part of the appeal for some visitors and overwhelming for others; smaller boutique resorts on the same coast offer a more intimate alternative.
