Cortado Beach, Famagusta coast

Cortado Beach is a smaller, quieter beach on the Famagusta coast — one of the less-developed sandy stretches in the area, with golden sand, clear water and a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts with the busier resort beach clubs along the Iskele strip further north.

The beach sits on the coast in the Famagusta district and is reachable by car or local public transport. It's not as well-signposted as the larger named beaches, so visitors usually find it through word of mouth or by following the coast road and stopping at the access points.

The sand is fine and golden and the water clear — the kind of small, almost-unspoiled Mediterranean beach you'd expect to find on a less-developed coastline. The relative quietness is the main draw; on weekdays outside peak summer it's possible to have a stretch of the beach largely to yourself.

Cortado keeps things basic. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, but the beach doesn't have the extensive restaurant-and-bar build-out of the bigger clubs. A small set of nearby cafés and casual restaurants serve food and drink — enough for a relaxed day trip without driving back into Famagusta.

The beach lends itself to slower activities: swimming, sunbathing, walking the shoreline, light snorkeling along the rocks at the edges. Visitors looking for organised water sports (jet ski, parasailing) should head to one of the bigger beach clubs on the Iskele coast instead.

Cortado works for visitors who want a quiet beach day rather than a destination — couples, smaller groups, locals on a weekday afternoon, anyone who prefers a slower pace to the resort-club model. It's a good complement to a busier day spent at one of the larger Famagusta-area attractions like the Salamis ruins or Glapsides Beach.
