Kaya Artemis is the Bafra-strip property of the Kaya hospitality group — a 5-star themed resort built as a contemporary reconstruction of the ancient Temple of Artemis. The main building rises around tall columns, marble statuary and landscaped gardens that reference one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, with the broader resort organised around six swimming pools, an aquapark, a casino and convention facilities.
Location & access
The resort sits in Bafra in the resort-heavy strip east of Famagusta, near Vokolidha. Drive time from central Famagusta is around 40 minutes; from Ercan Airport, closer to an hour. The setting is built for stay-on-property holidays — the surrounding stretch is quieter than Kyrenia's busier coastal road.
Rooms
Kaya Artemis runs 739 rooms in total — split between the main hotel building and a set of bungalow-style annexes spread through the grounds. The category mix includes Standard Rooms (around 32 square metres, modern furniture, twin or double beds with a seating area and a balcony onto garden or sea view), Superior Rooms on higher floors with enhanced views and upgraded in-room amenities like bathrobes, slippers and premium toiletries, and full Suites with separate living areas for longer stays.
The Artemis theming
The architectural concept references the ancient Temple of Artemis at Ephesus — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — translated into a modern resort with tall columns, marble statues, classical capitals and formal gardens. The theming runs through the public spaces (lobby, restaurant, casino entrance) and the pool deck rather than being limited to the front facade. Visitors who enjoy themed resorts find it a memorable backdrop; visitors who prefer minimalist contemporary design may find the look overstated.
Pools and aquapark
The pool count is one of the deeper on the coast — two outdoor pools, two indoor pools and two dedicated children's pools, plus a separate aquapark. The aquapark carries a varied slide lineup, with rafting slides, a body slide, a black-hole tube, a freefall slide, a multi-lane slide and a wave-pool slide. The mix gives both younger and older guests something to do across the season.
Beach
The resort's seafront is a stretch of the Bafra coast with golden sand and clear Mediterranean water. The setting is quieter than the Kyrenia hotel beaches — most of the Bafra strip is occupied by resorts rather than open public beaches, so the area as a whole feels less crowded.
Dining and the casino
The main Agora Restaurant runs an international buffet with themed nights through the week — Mediterranean, Far East, Turkish, and other cycling themes. The Kaya Artemis Casino operates separately as a Vegas-style gaming floor, with table games and slot machines and a clear separation from the residential and family zones.
Kids, sport and convention space
The Kids Club and Mini Disco serve guests aged 4 to 12, with arts and crafts sessions, themed activities, dedicated pools and waterslide access. A convention centre and meeting rooms make the resort usable for mid-size corporate events and weddings — uncommon in the broader Bafra strip and a real differentiator alongside its themed identity.
Spa and wellness
A spa and beauty centre operates on-property with the standard luxury treatment menu, sauna, Turkish bath and fitness equipment alongside. Sitting away from the busier pool decks, the wellness wing functions as the quieter corner of the resort.
Who it suits
Kaya Artemis works for visitors who want a destination resort experience with both family programming (aquapark, kids' club, multiple pools) and adult-facing facilities (casino, spa, convention space). The themed architecture is the most distinctive element — it's a draw for some guests and a deterrent for others. Couples looking for a more intimate, contemporary five-star will find the smaller properties on the Kyrenia coast a better fit.
