DenizKızı — Turkish for "Mermaid" — is the beach attached to the Denizkızı Hotel in Karaoğlanoğlu, west of central Kyrenia. It's smaller and quieter than the big day-pass beach clubs further along the coast, leaning more toward a relaxed hotel-beach atmosphere with full water-sport facilities.
Location & access
The hotel and its beach sit on the coastal strip running west out of central Kyrenia, in the same Karaoğlanoğlu stretch as Kervensaray Public Beach and Merit Park. The drive from Kyrenia town centre takes around ten minutes, and the property is set back from the road behind tropical gardens. Day visitors and hotel guests share the same beach.
The beach and pool
The seafront is a sand-and-deck arrangement with sun loungers, umbrellas and showers laid out behind the water. Inland from the beach, a half-Olympic freshwater pool sits in landscaped gardens, with a separate shallow zone designed for children. The combination of a calm beach and a proper pool makes the property usable on days when the sea is choppy.
Water sports and diving
Denizkızı operates a busier water-sports programme than most beach-clubs in the area. Jet ski and kayak rental are typical seasonal offerings. The property also hosts a PADI-certified scuba diving centre, which runs courses and guided dives along the Kyrenia coastline — a notable feature for visitors planning a multi-day stay built around diving.
Dining and wellness
Four on-site restaurants cover the day: a beachside restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine, an international restaurant on the terrace, a Ukrainian-themed Country Club restaurant, and a buffet-style restaurant overlooking the bay for breakfast and dinner. The hotel also runs a sauna, fitness centre and Jacuzzi for guests.
Who it suits
DenizKızı works best for visitors who want a hotel-beach setup with serious water-sport options — particularly divers — without the crowds of the bigger day-pass clubs. Families benefit from the protected children's pool area, and the spread of restaurants makes it a workable all-day base. Hotel guests get free use of the beach amenities; day-visit policies vary by season.
