Iskele Public Beach (Makenzi)

May 27, 2026

Iskele Public Beach — officially the Iskele Municipality Makenzi Public Beach — is the council-run free-access beach on the Iskele (Trikomo) coast. It sits on the same Long Beach strip as the bigger resort beach clubs but operates as a public surface, with the standard set of facilities a visitor needs for a full day without paying a club entry fee.

Location & access

The beach is on the Iskele coastline east of Famagusta, on a section of Long Beach managed by the municipality. Entry is free; a public car park sits behind the beach. Most visitors arrive by car, with the dolmuş (regional minibus) network also stopping along the coast road.

The beach

The sand is soft and the water is clear and shallow — like the rest of Long Beach, the shelf into deeper water is gentle, which keeps the beach safe for children and beginner swimmers. The wide stretch means even busy summer weekends rarely feel crowded.

Facilities

The municipality maintains the standard kit — sun loungers, showers, changing rooms, toilets and parking. Lifeguards are on duty during operating hours. A beach bar and restaurant operate at the back of the beach. The municipality has also built an accessible (disabled-friendly) area, useful for visitors with reduced mobility.

Promenade, playground and sport

A paved promenade runs along the back of the beach with cycling and walking paths — popular with locals and visitors who want activity around the beach rather than just lounger time. A children's playground sits along the same strip. Beach volleyball is a regular fixture in the afternoons, and seasonal water sports — jet ski, paddleboard — operate from rental kiosks along the beach.

Who it suits

Iskele Public Beach is the default low-cost option for visitors based in or near Iskele who want a full beach day without paying a beach-club entrance fee. It's also a practical pick for families with young children — soft sand, calm water, playground, lifeguards. Visitors looking for a more polished beach-club experience with cabanas and structured dining are better suited to the adjacent resort beaches.
