North Cyprus has one of the longest underdeveloped coastlines in the Mediterranean. The beaches fall into a few rough clusters: the Kyrenia (Girne) coast for the hotel beach clubs, the Karpaz peninsula for unspoilt sand and turtle nesting, the Famagusta–Iskele stretch for long flat beaches near the universities, and the Salamis–Bafra strip for resort-attached beach access.
